"Berry" Fun Birthday!!

We celebrated Emily's 4th Birthday ( a little bit early) on Saturday. She actually turns 4 on August 23! She had a lot of "Strawberry Shortcake" fun eating cake and ice cream, opening presents and swimming! Here are some photos of the event. It was nice because she is getting old enough to really open her own presents and enjoy the attention!

Graduation Day!

Dennis and I enjoyed a visit to the quaint little town of Marion, IN, this weekend to celebrate Dennis' accomplishment of his Master's of Education! The ceremony was Saturday afternoon, August 12. The rest of the weekend we spent just relaxing and seeing the sights of the town and spending time together - since we hadn't really had much time together since he started this crazy thing 18 months ago!!! It was a great weekend. I wish the campus had been closer so our family could have shared it with us, but at least we have a few pictures to share. I was in charge of the camera for most of the weekend, so there aren't very many good photos!
We also had the chance to visit with Rev. Tom and Jeannie Edwards while we were there! We had a great time catching up!

Six Flags

We decided on the absolute hottest day of the Summer to go to Six Flags with the Doherty's.....glad we went with them...not so glad we picked the hottest day of the Summer!!! We took only Emily with us so we didn't lose Anna and have any police reports to fill out! ;) Emily had a great time. She rode rides and spent a lot of time at the water park. I think all the small rides went to Daddy's head a little bit....as you can see in the photo....I think he started to believe he was the munchkin king, waving to his people! ;)

Dennis finished his Summer camps and is starting back to school for the year next week. Back to work and back to reality! And the girls go back to eating grilled cheese instead of Happy Meals and dressing fairly normal...the photo shows a typical Daddy outfit....funny, huh?? Anna must have known she looked funny, sha ran around the room looking down and giggling!

So plans for the next few months....put a lot of prayer and energy into church as our Pastor has resigned and we need to focus our prayer on the right Pastor being chosen, Dennis is beginning to teach our SS class as our teacher is leaving to Pastor a church in Mississippi (99% sure) and I will be co-leading a Women's prayer/Bible study on Monday nights. Good times!!!

Devotional prayer for the week: (I have been praying this a lot more lately and it is now hanging in my bathroom!)

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can;and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful worldas it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things rightif I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with HimForever in the next.Amen. --Reinhold Niebuhr
