Dora the Explorer!

So, our project for this weekend was turning Anna's room into her new and improved, "Dora the Explorer Room." This even means she got a big girl bed!! Although, last night she got out of bed 3 times before she went to sleep so we were starting to have regrets! ;) But, she loves it and her little eyes lit up when she saw the Dora border on her wall. Then, Mamaw "queen of creativity" created a Chocolate tree and we designed a piece of Dora wall art for her, which Emily thought was the coolest thing! Here are some photos. Thanks, Mamaw!!

Such is Life...

God has blessed us so much! We have such a wonderful family and Mommy is so excited to be able to spend so much time with the girls now!! We have seen so much of each other that they get excited to go to Mamaw's house again! YAY!!! I don't want to take any of it for granted, though. So, maybe I can add some devotional thoughts and challenges here and there on the blog to share what I am learning, since now God is allowing me to be more involved in our Sunday school class and have more time for Bible study.

This week's lesson was about Elohim, the very first name of God used in the O.T. In the lesson, we are reminded that God is our awesome creator who created us "for His glory" and to glorify Him with our lives and all we do. Yes, this means He created us with our quirks and flaws, but even crazier than that, He intends to be glorified through them! In 2 Peter 1:3, the Bible says "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." My challenge for this week is for us to remember that no matter what we are doing, do it for God and make an attempt to recognize how He could be glorified through it.

And before I end, I usually try to share a funny photo for the week...so here is one, unedited and definitely un-staged! Daddy forgot how much he weighed when he leaned a bit too far in the computer chair....so the girls took advantage of the situation and pig-piled him! He's a little bruised, but made it through the ordeal OK. I just happen to keep the digital camera by the computer...lucky Daddy!! This is footage from the actual accident!! :)

And for the "sweet photo award" ....you don't often see them both being this still at the same time, but your best chance is at bedtime! Say it with me, Aawwwww........

Hope this was thought-provoking, yet entertaining!

Labor Day Weekend

Well, as with tradition...we spent Labor Day weekend laboring! For some reason, we seem to do major things on this holiday....we moved into our house in 2001 on Labor Day. Emily was born right before Labor Day the next year, so I spent that one recovering from Labor! This year Dennis and Mom painted our living room. I am posting photos, but surely it won't do justice as the color is a sand color with a pink tone to it, so it is hard to pick up on film. They worked hard....I stayed with the kids...it was much safer for me and my carper if I did that!! Thanks mom!!

To celebrate Labor Day, Dennis and the kids and I ate out at Steak and Shake. We invited Mamaw, but she was too worn out to even go! Poor Mamaw! You missed out on eating a Hot Fudge Sundae with these cute little faces....
