Under the Sea!

Emily and her "loot"
Here are some photos of Emily's 5th B-Day. Sorry to post so much at one time. We've not had much computer time lately to post, so I'm just getting around to it! She had a little Mermaid B-Day! I'm not in the photos because I was the camerawoman, but I was there, too! ;)

Nana, what's your digits??

Pizza and fun!

Kindergarten
Wow...can it really be true? Is our baby going to school?? We have been saying this several times a day over the past week! Emily started Kindergarten last Thursday. Here are some photos. She has been a trooper...she loved the first day, was tired the next day but ready to go, but by last night was saying she didn't want to go to school because she needed to stay home and be with me. I reminded her how boring I am and how fun school is, mentioned art class, and that was all it took. She went out the morning again like a pro....backpack on and ready to take on the world! She has most enjoyed "kitchen center" but also has learned some new songs and games.
And I haven't broken into a full-blown cry yet....a little mist here and there, but no real tears. Of course, Dennis is her PE teacher and is on hand if there is any issue, so I guess really that is cheating! If he weren't there, I'm sure I'd have gone through at least a box of Kleenex so far and called the school to check in or driven by to peer into the windows a few times a day! ;)
Vacation for 2
Dennis and I got a chance to get away for the day/night and go to General Butler State Park. It was a very nice park and we had a fun time seeing the sites, such as the overlook that looks out over Carrolton, KY, and the historic Butler-Turpin Home. The only thing we recommend is that you NOT go when we are having 101 degree weather with heat advisories in the 110's!! Man, that old house was hot with no A/C. Good thing the tour was only 1 hour, then we got to hit the pool!!
Go and check it out, but check it out in the Spring or Fall! ;)

End of the Summer
We have been busy lately as the school year quickly approaches and Emily will begin her first of 13 years of "educational bliss," and Dennis goes back to work. I'm looking forward to Emily learning and becoming more independent, but am very anxious about losing "my baby" to the big, bad world. But I know that God tells me in His word, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Phil 4:6) So, i know that I will just pray daily for her safety and that the foundation she has in the Word and the haven she has in our Christian home will keep her in His peace and keep her mind pure. But, pray for me because I am fighting the natural tendency to be VERY anxious!!
And if you have any advice or comforting thoughts, please pass them along as "An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up." (Prov 12:25)
Here are some recent photos of some of our festivities of the last few weeks.
